Situation

We've been fighting back and forth in Khe Sanh since the Tet Holiday earlier this year. Higher-ups think we don't need to occupy this area anymore, or maybe something big is coming, we haven't been told the specifics. Newest assignment from them is codename Operation Charlie. Only thing we're really privvy to is that a large enemy force is making its way to the Combat Base; Force Recon let us know earlier this week. So now the word on everyone's mind, direct from the higher-ups, is evacuation. We've got some helos ready to spool up on the airstrip right now. We'll be defending the perimeter; injured troopers and Army boys evacuate first. First, Second, and Third Squads are leaving last. Reconvene at the abandoned MACV camp, Lang Vei, for debrief after everyone makes it out.

FRIENDLY FORCES
  • United States Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, Company L ""Lucky Lima""
  • United States Armed Forces, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry
ENEMY FORCES
  • People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN)

Objectives

First, Second, and Third Squads need to defend the Combat Base's western flank until all friendly forces are evacuated, then make your way to LZ Lang Vei by air. There's plenty of ammo and weapons available in and around your Armory, even a couple of weapons graciously donated by Charlie himself. Don't let the enemy surround you, but be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Our platoon commander, 2nd Lt. Livingston, will keep us up to date on the evacuation's progress.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
  • Survive until all friendly forces are evacuated
  • Rendevous at LZ Lang Vei after all forces are evacuated
SECONDARY OBJECTIVES
  • Keep fatalities below 50%

  • Each Marine squad has 4 Riflemen, which can be equipped with specialist equipment if a Squad Leader so desires. DO NOT equip yourself with specialist weapons if your Squad Leader does not prompt you to.
  • The Armory holds a limited number of M14s and other surplus and captured weaponry which can be swapped out by any trooper using a base M16A1 until they are no longer available. There are also some extra M1911A1 Pistols for use if desired, but please leave the HP Pistols to be used by anyone equipped as a Grenadier, as they have a larger magazine size.
  • The enemy will keep coming until we get everyone evacuated. We need to defend our flank until everyone has flown out, then leave as soon as we can. We might have to take multiple trips depending on how many of us are left.
